Course description
This course aims to introduce a wide range of mixed metal techniques and process as well as introducing appropriate methods of using the resulting materials. Focusing on techniques that use wire, sheet or tube as starting points the course promotes the combination of metals in different ways, achieving a wide range of different results.
The production of silver solders which is needed for a variety of different solder applications will be covered in the course, as well as the production of a range of alloys to introduce into the work. There will be opportunity to experiment with the taught techniques in order to engage with the process in a rich and personal way. Attention will be paid to the design process seeing how the materials we work with lend themselves to different applications with the option of making a simple piece of jewellery by the end of the course.
